Mental Health Matters (MHM)
Strengthening VET and Social Assistance Capacities
Building youth mental health competences in Moldova’s VET social assistance pathways
Mental Health Matters is an Erasmus+ Capacity Building in VET project that supports the modernisation of vocational education and training in Moldova in the field of social assistance. The project responds to a clear and urgent need. Across Moldova, children and young people face growing mental health challenges, while social assistance and VET systems still require stronger, more structured capacity to address them effectively. MHM focuses on this gap by strengthening the preparation of educators and future professionals who play an important role in early identification, supportive response and referral. Through a partnership that brings together organisations from Moldova and EU Member States, the project develops evidence-based training resources, practical tools and open digital learning opportunities. Its aim is to support more relevant, inclusive and sustainable VET provision in the area of youth mental health and social assistance.
Project Objectives
MHM aims to:
- strengthen the capacity of VET educators and social assistance professionals in addressing youth mental health;
- develop a standardised and scalable training curriculum tailored to Moldova’s VET context;
- digitalise learning through an open MOOC and related training resources;
- promote awareness, quality and long-term uptake of youth mental health competences in VET education.
What the Project Does
MHM combines research, curriculum development, digital learning, educator training and dissemination. The project will produce a needs assessment and gap analysis, a competency-based curriculum, a practical training toolkit and an open MOOC, while also supporting educators through Training of Trainers activities, virtual exchanges and study visits.
